Things can be stressful these days. Life is going faster and faster. There is always something to do. Technology makes life easier in many ways, but with the ease, there are also increased expectations on us. Well, what I’d like to talk about is:
I am your Stress Relief Specialist. I am here for you, to help you get through your day, your week, and your life! In order to survive, you know that you need food, water, shelter, and clothing. In addition, you have to be able to cope with the stressors and challenges that life gives you. You are given challenges every day that you must learn from. As you are going through them, often these challenges are not fun and can be wearing on your body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, it is important to have some relief from these stresses so that you can re-energize, heal, and keep on going. That’s where I, as a Doctor of Acupuncture/Licensed Acupuncturist, come in. I am here for you, to help you relieve your stress.
“Victory over thoughts is really a victory over all limitations, weakness, ignorance and death. The inner war with the mind is more terrible than the outer war with the machine-guns. Conquest of thoughts is more difficult than the conquest of the world by the force of arms. Conquer your thoughts and you will conquer the world.” This is a quote by Swami Sivananda from his book Thought Power.
Here at Stonington Natural Health Center, we offer you a variety of modalities that help you to de-stress, de-compress, rejuvenate and heal. With Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine you can allow your mind to let go of all its stress, your body to send in the clean up crews and mend, and your spirit to rejuvenate and replenish. The Acupuncture treatments are often completed with a 10 to 30 minute massage, sometimes as long as an hour massage. With Massage you can massage away the stress in your body. Take a break out of your hectic life. Take a break to fully restore and heal.
People often wonder, “What does Acupuncture feel like and how in the world could it feel good and relieve stress?” When you have your first session of deep relaxation, all of those questions are answered. Acupuncture increases your production of endorphins, “the happy neurotransmitters.” Endorphins produce a feeling of euphoria, like what some people feel from a glass of wine or a beer or drink, or from a cigarette, or a painkiller EXCEPT that Acupuncture is actually good for you!
The production of a variety of neurotransmitters goes down when stress occurs. For example, endorphin production often decreases after a prolonged bout of pain. It is important to increase your endorphins naturally so that your body learns how to produce these good neurotransmitters again. Endorphins reduce inflammation in the body, reduce pain, and make you feel happy. And it is important to be truly happy. As Swami Sivananda says, “Just as you take physical exercises, play games such as tennis and cricket in order to maintain physical health, you will have to maintain mental health by radiating the right health waves,…mental recreation of an innocent and harmless nature, change of mood, relaxation of mind by entertaining good, ennobling and sublime thoughts and by cultivating the habit of cheerfulness.”
It has been described that Acupuncture heals the mind like years of counseling, but without having to say a word. Of course, it is good to go to therapy talk about the things that have been bothering you, and Dr. Marco is here as a listening ear as well.
Now is the time to take care of you and those that you love. A patient recently said to me, “Things are really bad. I am in a financial crisis, and it is completely out of my control. But if I have my health, then I can make it through. I will be coming in regularly to make sure that my health stays good for my family.”
This really hit me. This is the way that Chinese Medicine was meant to be. Whether there are health concerns for us to address, or health concerns that we want to prevent, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are a comprehensive philosophy and modality to improve one’s health and maintain good health.
I encourage you to have at least one form of relaxation Holistic Medicine a week. Holistic Modalities help you to survive and thrive. Call 860.536.3880 now to set up your Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine appointment so that we can help you to feel better now.
